DP2 MK2: An Evolution Designed for Daily Playing in the Woodbrass Range
The Woodbrass DP2 MK2 continues the line of furniture-style digital pianos designed to offer the essentials of a real piano, with immediate playability and useful everyday features. This "MK2" version aims for a clear balance: realistic touch, generous amplification, and learning tools to progress at home, while maintaining connectivity options suited to current uses (wireless audio, USB, headphones).
Keyboard Design
At the heart of the DP2 MK2 is an 88-key progressive weighted keyboard, designed to reproduce the natural resistance of an acoustic piano, with a firmer feel in the bass and lighter in the treble. The 3-level adjustable key sensitivity allows you to tailor the response to your playing style: practical for switching from precise classical touch to a more direct pop style, or to suit different profiles (beginners, returning players, more advanced pianists).
The cabinet includes a 3-pedal unit: soft to soften the attack, sostenuto to sustain only certain notes, and sustain to prolong resonances. The sustain pedal supports half-pedaling, an important detail for working on nuances and legato with greater realism.
Sound Quality
The DP2 MK2 relies on a Dream France sound engine with high-quality sampling, providing an expressive and pleasant sound foundation, particularly relevant for everyday piano sounds. With 29 voices, you have a versatile selection to alternate between piano, complementary sounds, and accompaniment textures without getting lost in endless sound banks.
The 189-note polyphony ensures excellent sustain, even when stacking chords, using the sustain pedal, and playing with layers in Dual mode. The 2 x 25 W stereo amplification powers the built-in speaker system, delivering a rich and present sound in a living room, with enough headroom to play dynamically.
Built-in Effects
- Reverb: 3 types (adjustable on 3 levels)
- Equalization bass / treble to adjust the character of the sound according to the room and your style
Educational Features
The DP2 MK2 is designed to support progress. The metronome offers 8 accents and an adjustable tempo from 20 to 280 BPM, ideal for working on timing, hands separately, and rhythmic placement. Three demo songs are also available to explore the instrument's sound.
To vary approaches, you benefit from common playing functions: Dual mode (layering two sounds) and Split mode (different sound for each hand). This is especially practical for learning (left-hand bass + right-hand piano) or to thicken a piano sound with a softer layer.
Advanced Features
For further versatility, the DP2 MK2 includes practical and production-oriented tools: transposition up to 12 semitones, recorder/player with a capacity of 5,000 notes, and a settings save function to quickly recall your configurations. On the accompaniment side, there are 19 rhythms and 19 accompaniment styles, with automatic accompaniment, chord management with single-finger or multi-finger modes, and a Sync function to start accompaniment as soon as you play.
Connectivity is designed for current uses: wireless audio connection to stream music from a smartphone, tablet, or computer directly to the piano's speakers, USB MIDI to control virtual instruments, and dual headphone outputs for practicing with a partner or in lessons. The MP3 / USB port also allows playback, and the instrument offers an auxiliary input as well as a 6.35 mm line output jack for easy integration into an audio setup.
